DAY 7: Departure

Arrival | Poverty & Hunger | HIV/AIDS | Aid, Trade and Debt | Education | Take Action | Departure

They may have gone back to the same places, but when students from around the country boarded the flights, trains, buses and subways that would take them home, they returned as a wholly changed group. Over the course of a single week they had bonded, learned and planned a year’s worth of actions. Together they will lead thousands of young Americans in changing the face of poverty.

In the words of one GCC Leader, this is just the beginning. You’ll be hearing from them soon enough.

Leaders Speak:

"We’re leaving with a rare feeling of empowerment, optimism, and duty. The skills we’ve learned at the summit will transcend our year as GCC leaders and equip us to fight poverty for the rest of our lives."
Fanna, GCC Leader, California

"I know that this is the beginning and not the end. I have been thinking about doing something for so long and finally I know how – now I can get started. Through my experience, I know that I will not only spread awareness to the other 3,000 students at my school, but will also inspire my friends back in Japan, where there is no tradition of high school students trying to make a change in the world."
Yuri, GCC Leader, Connecticut

"I feel so fortunate to have been a part of this summit. I have gained so many valuable lessons from all of these gifted and talented individuals."
Bita, GCC Leader, North Carolina
