Suchin Pak
Mistress of Ceremonies
A correspondent for MTV News, SuChin Pak is passionate about giving a voice to a generation of young people who are changing our world.
Born in Korea, Ms. Pak and her family moved to the Bay Area when she was five years old. She never planned on a career in television, but when she was approached to host TV shows—first in high school and later as a student at the University of California at Berkeley—she quickly learned to balance a television career with her education.
After graduating from college with a degree in political science, Ms. Pak moved to New York City to host "Trackers" for the cable network Oxygen. Since joining MTV in 2001, she has covered the MTV Video Music Awards, the Sundance Film Festival and interviewed numerous musicians and entertainers.
During her time at MTV, Ms. Pak has brought attention to youth efforts to make a difference—providing young activists with a platform to tell their stories and inspire their peers. In the aftermath of September 11th, Ms. Pak contributed segments on young volunteers and the challenges faced by Muslim American women. She contributed to MTV's Choose or Loose Campaign; the 2004 "Campus Guide to Safe Sex," which premiered on World AIDS Day; and "My Life Translated," which explored stories of young people dealing with discrimination. Ms. Pak traveled to the hardest-hit areas of Thailand, where she saw how many young forensic experts are helping families find closure for the MTV News documentary "After the Tsunami."
