What is the BuddyBlog?

In 2000, leaders from all 189 countries in the United Nations, including the U.S., agreed to have equal numbers of boys and girls in schools by 2005, and provide primary education for all by 2015. Five years later, more than 100 million children are out of school, more than two-thirds of whom are girls. To hold world leaders to their promises, children from around the world are making representations of their buddies who cannot go to school as part of the Send My Friend to School Campaign. Hundreds of thousands of these buddies will be sent to the G8 and UN summits held in July and September to lobby for universal primary education.

The NetAid Buddy Blog will follow the journey of these friends as they make the trip from schools and communities in the U.S. to conferences and events worldwide.  Their trip will show how young people around the globe are coming together to tell their leaders that all children should have the chance to go to school.
