Adriana Fernández

Adriana Fernández is the Director of Programs at NetAid and oversees the development of NetAid's programmatic efforts to educate, inspire and empower youth to fight global poverty through peer-to-peer education, leadership training, and technological innovation. Adriana joined NetAid in April of 2002 and since then has had the opportunity to play a leading role in a number of areas including program design, strategic planning and web management. Adriana also specialized in the issue of universal education and girls' education through youth constituency building and NetAid's involvement in the Global Campaign for Education.
Adriana has experience in women's rights, youth leadership development and web management. She began her career at the Center for American Woman and Politics (CAWP) where she worked on the National Education for Women's Leadership initiative that educates and empowers the next generation of women leaders. At CAWP, she created the first NEW Leadership web site and contributed to the planning and implementation of six leadership institutes held across the country.
After CAWP, Adriana joined Girls Inc., an organization that inspires all girls to be strong, smart and bold, as the Online Content and Membership Manager where she was responsible for defining the web presence of the organization and laying the foundation for an educational and community building web site devoted to girls.
Adriana also worked for Metro International and served on the Planned Parenthood Board of Central New Jersey for six years in a variety of roles including chair and vice chair.
Adriana graduated with honors from Rutgers University, with a B.A. in Women's Studies and Spanish and a certificate in International Relations. She also lived in Puerto Rico and studied at the University of Puerto Rico. |
