Web Intern
The NetAid Programs team works to educate, inspire and empower young people to take action in the fight against global poverty. NetAid's innovative programs provide opportunities for young people to take concrete actions that make a difference in the fight against global poverty. Our programs include:
- NetAid Global Citizen Corps: Empowers high school students in the U.S. to educate and rally their peers in efforts to end global poverty.
- NetAid Global Action Awards: Honors high schools students in the U.S. who take outstanding actions to improve the lives of the world's poorest people.
- These programs are complemented by a broad range of opportunities to learn about global poverty, raise awareness, join campaigns and take action. NetAid is an initiative of Mercy Corps.
Key Responsibilities
Social Networking Web Sites
- Manage content on NetAid page on social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Care2, Gather, Friendster, Xanga,
- Draft blog entries across NetAid page on social networking sites
- Adapt sites to become more visually appealing using latest tools and html coding
- Check and reply to web site email as necessary
- Communicate with members of networks using bulletins
- Find new networks and features
Required Criteria
- Have an interest in youth and global engagement or past experience working on related issues
- Able to commit 2 days per week for a minimum of 3 months
- Excellent communications skills – verbal and written – in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Proficient in HTML
Preferred Criteria
- Ability to edit multimedia files (mp3s, mp4s, jpgs, gifs)
- Photoshop knowledge
- Interest in online communities
