Background and Task:

NetAid is a non-profit organization which works to educate, inspire and empower young people to take action in the fight against global poverty. The Global Citizen Corps (GCC) is a NetAid initiative which gives entrepreneurial high school students the tools and training they need to multiply the message of global citizenship at their schools and in their communities.

The GCC Summit brings together high school leaders from across the country for a week-long training on global poverty issues and skill-building.  After completing the training, program participants organize a series of Global Action Days in their schools which involve their peers in learning and action around different development themes including World Food Day, World AIDS day, Global Access to Education, and the Millennium Development Goals. This summer, NetAid will convene 42 students for an in-person summer 'Global Poverty-Fighting Summit', and aims to engage hundreds of additional students through a series of innovative e-learning modules.

Working closely with members of the GCC team and the curriculum specialist, your task will be to help assist the curriculum development team in producing materials for the Global Citizen Corps Online Action Center.   Tasks include:

  • Reviewing and updating curricular materials
  • Writing and copy-editing curriculum
  • Developing activities to accompany existing curricula
  • Formatting and standardizing the workshops to adhere to an overall training design making the curriculum stand-alone and replicable
  • Assisting in the development of an action planning section of the curriculum based on lessons learned from previous workshops

Desired Characteristics and Qualifications:  NetAid seeks creative, committed, intellectually curious individuals to join our highly collaborative and fast-paced small team.

The ideal candidate would combine:

  • Experience in education and curriculum development;

All interns will receive an unlimited NYC transportation pass for the duration of the internship.  Most NetAid internships are unpaid. Please list any stipend requirements in your cover letter.
